FAQs

Does Acupuncture Hurt

Generally acupuncture is pain free.  You may feel a tiny prick as the needle tip breaks the surface of the skin.  As the needle is inserted to the desired depth, it draws Qi and Blood to the acupuncture point termed “Qi sensation.”  Everyone experiences Qi sensation differently and are often described by patients as pins and needles, tingling, heaviness, dull ache twitching, or nothing at all.  These sensations typically subside shortly after needle insertion.

How long are the Needles left in the body

Needles are generally retained in the acupuncture points for 20-30 minutes.

What kind of Needles are Used

All needles are only used once!  They are sterile and individually packaged until use.  The needles are very thin, thinner than a sewing needle, nothing like the needles used to draw blood or for injections.  Once the needles are removed from the body, they are discarded into a biohazard container for proper disposal.

How many Treatments are required
